Every job, wherever it sits on the map, gets the same team and the same paperwork: a written contract before anyone picks up a tool, and a sign-off once the last tile is grouted. Distance from Nottingham doesn't change that. 1. Initial call -- You phone or message us with a rough idea of the job and where you are. 2. Site survey and measure-up -- One of our team comes out to measure the room, check the condition of existing pipework and wiring, and look at access - stairs, doorways, and parking for a skip or van, which matters more on a terraced Victorian street in Radford than it does on a new-build close in Clifton.
3. Design and written quote -- We put together a layout and product spec, then issue a written contract covering price, timescale and what's included, before any deposit changes hands.
4. Strip-out and first fix -- The old suite comes out, waste is cleared by our licensed carrier, and first-fix plumbing, electrics and any joinery work is carried out by the relevant qualified tradesperson.
5. Tiling, fitting and second fix -- Tiling, plastering, the new suite and fittings go in, followed by second-fix electrics and plumbing - taps, shower valves, extractor fans and lighting.
6. Completion and sign-off -- We walk the finished room with you, deal with any snagging on the spot, and both sign off the job. That sign-off, plus the 5-year labour and installation guarantee and 2-year product guarantee, applies identically whether the address is in Nottingham or out toward Newark.

The bathroom itself - the suite, tiling, plumbing and labour - is priced the same way regardless of postcode: on the size of the room, the scope of work (a straightforward refit versus a full strip-out with moved pipework), and the products you choose. What can vary by location is travel and access. A job in Nottingham, West Bridgford or Beeston involves no travel premium at all. A job out toward Southwell, rural Newark villages, or across into Derbyshire and towards Doncaster may carry a small, clearly stated travel allowance to reflect the extra time on the road, and this gets agreed as part of the written quote, not tacked on afterwards. Rural properties can also occasionally add cost for reasons unrelated to distance - older private plumbing systems, longer pipe runs from a distant boiler, or awkward access for skips down a farm track. None of this can be priced accurately from a phone call. A full, fixed quote always follows a site visit, because the two biggest cost variables - the actual condition of what's already there and the room's real dimensions - can only be judged in person.

Nottingham itself is where most of our work happens, and the city's housing stock varies enough street by street that it's worth knowing what to expect. Areas like Sherwood, Mapperley and parts of Radford are dominated by Victorian and Edwardian terraces, often with the original bathroom squeezed into a small back addition, narrow stairs that limit what size of suite can go up them, and older lead or iron pipework that needs replacing rather than working around. Wollaton and West Bridgford lean more toward 1930s and interwar semis and detached houses, generally with a bit more room to work with but sometimes original single-glazed sash windows and lath-and-plaster walls that need care during a strip-out. Beeston and Chilwell, close to the university, have a mix of family homes and older rental stock, where a fast, well-managed turnaround matters if a property needs to be ready between tenancies. Arnold, Carlton and Gedling are mostly post-war semis and estates, often good candidates for a loft or garage conversion en-suite alongside the main bathroom refit. Newer estates on the city's edge, such as Clifton and Top Valley, are a different job altogether: modern stud walls, standard-size en-suites, and far less structural remedial work, though sometimes tighter void spaces for pipework than an older house would allow.

Outside the city, we regularly work in Nottinghamshire towns and villages including Bingham, the Rushcliffe villages, and the Southwell and Newark area, where the housing shifts again toward older stone and brick cottages, some on private drainage, with narrower country lanes that need factoring into skip and delivery logistics.
